When I speak of the reason for my chosen singleness, many think I am crazy. Why should a young woman in this day and age ever believe that a Christ consumed, sanctified, honorable, gentlemanly young man exists at all, let alone is waiting for her? When measured by the standards of this world, such a belief is quite absurd. When measured by the faithfulness and power of Jesus Christ, however, such a belief is entirely realistic.
Just now I was reading a blog entry by Adam Young, the music artist known as Owl City. It is titled “Deep Regret.” As I read each word my heart quickened, my breath caught, and my lips smiled while tears formed in my eyes. He exists! My mind exclaimed! The kind of man I’ve spent 22 years praying fervently for, exists! No, I was not proclaiming to myself that Adam Young is the man I am going to marry. What I am proclaiming is that suddenly this dream man that I have wondered about and surrendered to Christ for as long as I remember is not a dream at all – he is real! Right now he is doing something, somewhere… He is alive and waiting for me as I wait for him!
This sudden reality check has me all the more determined to fall deeper in love with my Savior! It is only in Christ that such a man will be mine and it is only through Christ that love with such a man will be more than a dream come true. I do not desire a man of this caliber so that I can be satisfied, made happy, and find my worth. Why? Because my Savior satisfies me, provides me with indescribable joy, and has made me worthy through His death and resurrection on that cross all those years ago. Christ chose me and I surrendered.
The reason I desire a man of this caliber is to have someone to walk side by side with through this life; someone to bring glory to our Savior with; someone to choose to serve 24/7; someone to serve others with; someone to ceaselessly pray with; someone to laugh with; someone to know; someone to know me. Our purpose will not be self-fulfillment but self-sacrifice to the Lord of our hearts. Now, after reading Adam Young’s entry, I have evidence that I am not a fool to desire such a love because the man I will share such a love with is real!
At this time I am blessed with a waiting period. As each day passes, so does the taken opportunity to lose myself more in Jesus. True, I can amuse myself in this waiting period by making myself noticeable to other guys. It is easy to turn heads, play with minds, and casually attract attention but there is no point to such endeavors. I desire but one man and he is not the sort of man who will pay attention to a flirt. During this waiting period I do not want to be distracted from God and the man of my dreams who is real. Instead, I desire to hide away from other guys and be purely set aside for my Mister Christ-like. The only place worth hiding is in Christ.
“You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance.” ~ Psalm 32:7
Although it is logical that one who hides may not be found, I have no doubt that my gentleman will find me.
In fact, I believe that we will discover each other while hiding in the exact same place.

AHHHH....I LOVE IT!!!!!
This is EXACTLY how I felt when I read it too. God has a man out there for me. I've been praying for him for, ever...and he really does exist. Like you said, I'm think that I'm in love with Adam Young...not him per say, but with his heart. To think, there's a man out there praying for me like I have been praying for him, for years. AHHH!!! Just brings a smile to my heart.
God has an man out there for you, Cait. He's going to be everything you want him to be, but better yet everything you've pray for and need him to be. God knows your heart, your struggles, and your weaknesses. He's created a man to encourage you and draw you closer to Him, not to him. Haha.
LOVE YOU Girl!!!
