In a world full of promises that are never kept,
I find within my heart a hunger that is left unmet.
Satisfaction is elusive and happiness so brief,
Replaced with emptiness, questions, and grief.
The world says to look within and find my strength waiting there.
Such a lie, for on the inside is where my desperation lies bare.
This hunger, this desire is meant for so much more
Than pointing me to self-fulfillment from a self so uncontrolled.
This hunger, this desire is part of my design
To point me to my Creator, to Him who was crucified.
As I deny the world’s lies,
Open become my eyes
And I finally see my Christ.
This hunger, this desire calls me to His side;
This hunger is met when in Him I abide.
