Peacefully Uncertain

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30

Uncertainty is a frustrating circumstance. The only One who has no uncertainty is the Lord. Read through the Scriptures and you will see that nothing is hidden from the Lord. Nothing surprises Him.

“O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high, I cannot attain to it.” – Psalm 139: 1-6

When I take the time to still my mind and heart and concentrate on Him, I am simply astonished. Jesus Christ has no stress, no obstacle, and no uncertainty. On my own, I do. He knows that as well and promises me rest. Even more, He offers me His yoke in exchange for mine. What a Gentleman my Savior is! In that often quoted and rarely followed Scripture, Jesus tells me to learn from Him. Unfortunately, I spend more time and effort telling Him all about my problems and uncertainty and asking how I should go about fixing them. Silly, silly Cait!

Each day Jesus gently teaches me to learn from Him. The more I learn from Him, the more I daily exchange my uncertainty for His easy and light yoke. Am I still uncertain? Most certainly! Is my uncertainty still a burden? Certainly not! Not when I surrender it to Him and allow Him to carry it for me. You see, Jesus may not explain to me exactly what the future will be. He does not give me detailed answers to all of my questions. He only says, “My dear girl, I love you. I created you knowing I would have to die for you. I had certainty and did the hard thing anyway. I will not leave you now. Trust me, my girl; trust me to know certainly what you do not and offer your every question as a sacrifice to me.” Then He gives me the promises,

"For I know the plans I have for you… Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." – Jeremiah 29:11

“I will not fail you or forsake you.” – Joshua 1:6b

“Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20b

My Savior knows. I trust Him. With His daily, gentle reminders of His faithfulness and certainty I daily offer Him my heart, along with all its questions. It is my delight and privilege to trust Him with everything, knowing that He is all I need. My life is for His glory, so what better place to leave it than in His Almighty hands? I exchange the burden of my uncertainties for the ease of His yoke. The result:

“You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:13

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33

“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” – John 10:10

Thank You, Jesus. My life is Yours.
